Biography
Sir David read law at Trinity Hall from 1972 to 1975 (where his teachers were John Collier, David Fleming and David Thomas) and was President of the Cambridge Union Society in Lent Term 1975. Called to the Bar by Middle Temple in 1976, he took Silk in 1997 and was elected Chairman of the Bar Council in 2002. In 2004 he was appointed a High Court judge (Queen’s Bench Division) and was promoted to the Court of Appeal in 2014. He was appointed Chairman of the Law Commission of England and Wales for a three year term in August 2015.
