Teaching
In Trinity Hall, Simon Guest supervises a wide range of topics including Structures and Mechanics in the second and third years of the Engineering Tripos; in the Engineering Department he lectures on Structural Mechanics in the second year of the course, and Mechanics of Solids in the third.
Research
Simon Guest’s research centres on devices and systems that lie at the borderline between being structures and mechanisms. There are many examples, ranging in scale from large deployable structures that provide a foldable roof for a stadium, to the nanometer scale outer protein coat of a virus, that unfolds to allow the delivery of an RNA or DNA payload. More details can be found on his Department of Engineering home page.
