Paul Townshend, boathouse manager and coach reports on a very successful Bank Holiday Weekend for the Trinity Hall Boat Club, and for Rosa Millard in the British University Championships.
“An extremely busy first full weekend of term for THBC saw our students competing both on the Cam as well as at the British University Championships at Nottingham.
“On Saturday both M1 (men’s first boat) and W2 (women’s second boat) raced the Spring Head to Head race comprising of two 2km legs from the Railway Bridge to the A14 road bridge and back with times combined to give a ranking. M1 had their strongest showing of the year (so far!) winning their event and posting the third fastest time of the day overall.
“W2 followed up an excellent race last week by also coming out victorious in their category and in doing so defeated W1s and W2s from divisions ahead of them in the May Bumps.
“A wonderful start to the term for THBC crews over the past two weekends which is a testament to the work put in by the students and coaches over the past weeks.
“Meanwhile in Nottingham, Rosa Millard once again competed for the University at the annual BUCS Regatta. After a vast number of races (Rosa may struggle to count just how many kilometres she raced in 48 hours!) Rosa’s final tally was three medals and a fourth place:
- GOLD – Women’s Championship Quadruple Sculls
- SILVER – Women’s Championship Coxless Fours
- SILVER – Women’s Intermediate Coxless Pairs.
“As always we are extremely proud of Rosa and her achievements and we are looking forward to Rosa continuing to row with THBC Senior Women as we now turn our focus towards the May Bumps.
“What a weekend. Row Hall!”
