Lent Bumps start today

The Lent Bumps start today with five Trinity Hall crews taking part in the annual rowing competition.

Both first boats go off 8^th in the first divisions which start Wednesday, while the remaining crews all have races today.

The Trinity Hall Boat Club has had a very promising year so far and in recent days the women’s crew raced at the Women’s Head of the River coming a very creditable 71^st out of more than 300 crews and in the top ten of academic boats.

It’s also good news for the men with the Men’s third boat finding a place in the fourth division having had a successful “Getting On” race (a timed race run before the bumps to assign the remaining spaces to college crews).

Charlie Bone, Overall and Men’s (non-binary) Captain said: The entire club is looking strong for Lent bumps this year. Coming off the back of a very successful Michaelmas term, during which our novices especially dominated the competition, I’ve high hopes for all involved.

“Of course, you never can fully predict what is going to happen, but that’s half the fun! I’m really proud of all the effort that people have put in this term, and everyone should be proud regardless of the outcome (though I’m sure it will be great!).”

Paul Townshend, Rowing Coach and Boathouse Manager at Trinity Hall said: “The women should have confidence after the Women’s Head of the River Race on the Tideway. Coming 71^st is a spectacular result, particularly when you think all but two of them were new to rowing when they started at Trinity Hall. W2 will be looking to make their way up their division after a very positive term together.”

”The men too should have confidence. Both M1 and M2 are in strong starting positions and it’s the first time since I have been at Trinity Hall that M3 have ‘got on’ in the Lent Bumps.”
