With an application for a Green Impact Award submitted, the Green and Ethics Officers for the JCR and MCR are feeling buoyant when they meet to discuss their roles.

May Brown, a first-year veterinary medicine undergraduate says she’s always been interested in biodiversity, having set up a website for local schools to share ideas. Since coming to the Trinity Hall, she’s been impressed by the work already being done and wants to build on that: “We can definitely make a tangible difference.”

Zoya Yousef is one of two MCR Green and Ethics reps and her postgraduate studies look at the ethics of AI. One of her main aims has been to work with the catering team at the College who already do great work, to improve sustainability for events. Alongside her is Lindsey Barnes whose Zoology MPhil looks at conservation work on a global scale. She, like May, has long had an involvement in environmental issues: she says that her background, teamed up with Zoya’s work in ethics, make them a great team.

The team have already completed a very successful series of Green Week events this term (promoted via our Instagram channel), but they’ve had their eyes set on a bigger prize all year.
